Statistics may look boring and difficult to understand but most question in the MRCOphth are straightforward and easy to score. Candidates are advised to be well-acquainted with the following terms
 
• common terms: mean, medium and mode
 
• standard of deviation and variance
 
• null hypothesis
 
• case-control study
 
• randomization
 
• various test: student t test, chi-squared test and their applications
 
• confidence intervals
 
• specificity and sensitivity including their calculation
 
• correlation coefficient
