Answer the following questions with reference to the fluorescein angiography above.
a. What abnormality is seen in the above picture?
b. Suggest two possible causes.
Answer to question a
Optic disc swelling. The fluorescence which is taken at
the venous phase shows hyperfluorescence of the optic
disc. This occurs in either papilloedema or optic disc
swelling.
Answer to question b
a. Raised intraocular pressure of any cause.
b. Acute anterior ischemic optic neuropathy
(either arteritic or non-arteritic).
