In retinal pigment epithelium detachment, the lesion tends to remain the same size despite progressive hyperfluorescence. In subretinal lesion, the hyperfluorescence will progressively increase in size as in central serious retinopathy. These differences can be explained by the much stronger adhesion between the Bruch's membrane and the RPE than between the retina and the RPE
