b. What visual field defect is shown in the picture?
c. Does the patient meet the criteria for driving?
Answer to a The minimum visual field for safe driving is at least 120 degrees on the horizontal meridian. In addition there should be no significant field defect in the binocular field which encroaches within 20 degrees of fixation either above or below the horizontal meridian Answer to b Left inferior homonymous quadrinopia. This patient suffered from cerebrovascular accident a few years ago. Answer to c No. The Esterman field test show that the patient does not meet the criteria for driving as the quadrinopia comes too close to the fixation. Go to station 8 Return to mock examination 8
