Instruments for enucleation
/ evisceration
(The following instruments are designed specifically
for enucleation/evisceration.
Additional instruments such as forceps, muscle hooks
and blades are not included here)
|
. |
Curved scissors used to free the globe from the orbit.
The curve of the scissors
allows easy insertion around the globe to cut the connective
tissue and the optic nerve. |
.
. |
Enucleation snare. The wire is looped over the globe
and slipped down into the optic nerve before enucleation. The loop is tightened
by turning the wing nut. |
|
Mule evisceration spoon |
Elliot evisceration spoon |
There are many
designs for evisceration spoons. Only two are shown here. The shape of
the spoons allow easy scraping of the uveal tissue from the scleral wall. |
