Kathiri State in Hadhramaut: Portrait
of Dr. Gauchet.
The Dutch master Vincent van Gogh
suffered from epilepsy and his physician Dr. Gauchet (always
painted with foxglove in his hand
) treated him with digitalis. The paintings of van Gogh are said
to manifest features of digitalis
toxicity such as his preference for yellow colours and seeing halos
around star (some suggested he
may have acute angle closure glaucoma). |
