Patients came to the temples of Asklepios and prayed for cures. Votives (an offering made to a deity either in support of a request or in gratitude for the fulfilment of an earlier prayer) could still be found in Epidaurus. Many of these were concerned with eye diseases and Asklepios appeared to have restored the sight of many blind persons. |
