In the examination, you will be asked about the definition of ophthalmia neonatorum, the differential diagnosis and the treatment for each condition. 

In addition, you may be shown the following pictures taken from the conjunctival swab.

Answer Gram stain of the conjunctival swab showing intracellular Gram negative diplococci. The  diagnosis is gonorrhoea.

Answer Chlamydia inclusion body which appears asbasophilic substances in the cells (see arrows).

Answer Immunofluorescent staining of conjunctival swab.  The three large shiny round lesions represent the  chlamydia inclusion bodies.
