History: A 80 year-old woman who was wheel-chair bound because of rheumatoid arthritis presented with a two month history of decreased right vision. The vision was 6/60 in the right eye and 6/12 in the left eye. Fundoscopy revealed a right full thickness macular hole. The left eye has moderate cataract with normal macula. The possibility of surgery was discussed. As the patient was happy with her remaining vision and the fact that she would find posturing difficult after the operation; surgery was not performed and she was discharged from the clinic. | |||
