aUp to 25% defect of the horizontal dimension (Figure 1a) can be closed directly (Figure 1b).

During tumour excision, it is important to perform a penton-shaped excision to include the whole vertical height of the tarsal plate (as in the lower lid) to avoid notching of the lid margin (see figure below)   The above pictures show the do and don't in full thickness lid excision. The dotted line denote the height of the tarsal plate.
