France (1958)
Rene Leriche (1879-1955) was a Parisian
surgeon famous for his surgery
as well as inventions. His most
famous invention is sympathetomy to
increase blood flow within the
artery. Thoracic sympathetomy was
performed in ischaemic upper limbs
such as Raynauld's disease.
Horner's syndrome is a complication
of thoracic sympathetomy. |
