Fennel (Foeniculum
vulgare) is used for seasoning and food.
It has an aniseed favour. The word foeniculum in Latin
means
fragrant hay. In Middle ages, the plant was placed on
the door
to ward off the evil effects of witchcraft. Herbalist
crushed the
seeds of fennel to make eyewash which is believed to
be
